Young New Zealanders Pamper Their Mums

Honouring mothers on Mother’s Day 2022

Young women in the New Zealand town of Levin recently gave their mothers hand massages, manicures and pedicures to show their appreciation and love for them.

The teenagers were attending a youth activity at their local congregation of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

One participant, Hannah, said: "I love the way that my mum helps me through all the hard things that I can't get through all by myself. And I love that she teaches me about the gospel to help me to draw closer to Heavenly Father. I loved doing the activity because it helped me to connect with other mothers in the ward and have a greater appreciation for them."

Another teenager, Tangakina, said: "My mum is always caring and loving and she always loves us even when we're not behaving."

She added, "Mum loved it [the activity]. When we went home she was so proud, telling my dad and siblings that I did massage and her nails."

President and Prophet of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Russell M. Nelson, said in 2018: “No one can duplicate the influence of a mother. … Anytime I use the word mother, I am not talking only about women who have given birth or adopted children in this life. I am speaking about all of our Heavenly Parents’ adult daughters. Every woman is a mother by virtue of her eternal divine destiny.”
