Wellington Mayor to Recognise 'Mormon Helping Hands' Volunteers with Community Award

Wellington mayor, Celia Wade-Brown, will honour "Mormon Helping Hands" volunteers from The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints tomorrow with an "Absolutely Positively Wellingtonian Award."

Mayor Wade-Brown said in a news release: “The Wellington 'Mormon Helping Hands' regularly contribute to our work programme every year with their hard work and positive, have-a-go attitudes.

"The group have pitched in on huge scale projects and they’ve always done it with aplomb and enthusiasm.”

The Mormon Helping Hands program brings together members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and their neighbours to provide community service.

These volunteers in their trademark yellow shirts help people whose lives have been affected by natural disasters and other emergencies.

Mormon Helping Hands volunteers also partner with government and nonprofit organizations to support and improve the communities where they live.
