Snowboarding Champion Heading to New Zealand

Olympic gold-medallist Torah Bright is on her way to New Zealand to resume training after a long break reports the Herald Sun recently. Bright, a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints from Cooma, New South Wales, took a break from training and competing to get married to Jake Welch in the Salt Lake Temple last year, and to recover from injury.

The Herald Sun reports that "The fresh-faced 24-year-old captured the hearts of Australians during the 2010 Winter Olympics with a courageous gold-medal performance soon after three frightening falls."

The article continues: "Bright, labelled 'the queen of the extreme' for her daring snowboarding stunts, admitted to being nervous about hitting the half-pipe again."

"I'm definitely fearful," she told the newspaper.

"But there have always been fears about hurting myself. You just have to work through it. It's all calculated risks."

According to the Herald Sun, Bright, coached by her brother Ben, will start training in New Zealand in the coming weeks.
