Church Leader Welcomed in American Samoa

Invites young people to serve missions

Elder Alistair Bruce Odgers, an Area Seventy (regional leader) of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, made his first visit to American Samoa recently.

Members of the Church welcomed Elder Odgers, who is from Christchurch, New Zealand, with a Fiafia night, which is a traditional Samoan cultural celebration.

The Fiafia included a meal and traditional dance.

Adney Reid, a local Latter-day Saint leader, shared a message encouraging love, service and ministering to individuals and families.

“We come together as one in Jesus Christ,” he said.

Elder Odgers encouraged the youth to serve missions.

“There are challenges in service, but a great reward forever in life.”
