New Mission Leaders Arrive in Wellington

New mission president, Roger Clinton Hudson, and his wife, Carol Anne Hudson, have been in New Zealand for one week. They will be serving together in the New Zealand Wellington Mission, succeeding President Michael L. and Sister Sandra L. Kezerian.

President Hudson was born in Utah, United States. His pioneer ancestors travelled across the plains of America in the 1800’s and settled in the Salt Lake Valley.  As a young man, he served as a missionary in the Canada Toronto Mission.

Sister Hudson was born in Oshawa, Ontario, Canada. Impressed by a Mormon singing group, the Osmonds, she learned about and then joined The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints at the age of 18. She and her husband met while studying at Brigham Young University.

After they were married, the Hudsons moved to Canada, where they raised their five children. They are the proud grandparents of 10 grandchildren.

They are both excited to be serving in New Zealand.

According to Sister Hudson, “We were told we would be serving in the most beautiful place in the world and the people here were accepting, warm, loving, and generous. It’s just as it was described, but better.”

When asked about their assignment, President Hudson replied, “As a representative of Jesus Christ, the Saviour blesses us with love and understanding. The foundation of serving has helped develop us to be missionaries throughout our lives. Our work now is to help these young men and young women who are serving to have great missions and to help them to be what God wants them to be.”

Couples such as the Hudsons serve in similar leadership positions throughout the world for three years. As couples in these Church callings normally begin their service in July, there are many others like the Hudsons throughout the world, right now, also beginning their missionary service.
