“Over 1.3 million new family history records are added to FamilySearch.org daily,” Elder Allan F. Packer, Executive Director of the Family History Department of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, told New Zealand Latter-day Saints this week.
Elder Packer, a member of the First Quorum of the Seventy of the Church, is visiting New Zealand, Australia, Samoa and American Samoa this week to speak with Latter-day Saints and others about new resources and helps for people as they research about their ancestors.

While in Auckland on Monday, Elder Packer said the 1.3 million new genealogical records being added daily to FamilySearch.org are adding to the more than 5 billion records currently on the free site.
Elder Packer is being accompanied by his wife, Terri Packer; and the Family History Department’s Managing Director, Dennis Brimhall, and his wife, Linda Brimhall. Steve Rockwood, an international director for the Family History Department, is also travelling with the group.
On Saturday evening, 7 March, the Packers and Brimhalls spoke to young adult members of the Church in Mt Roskill, Auckland.
Elder Packer encouraged the young people to be involved in learning about their ancestors and in participating in temple ordinances to unite families in eternal relationships.
The following evening, Sunday 8 March, Elder Packer spoke to over 1,400 youth at the Church's Sunset Road Mairangi Bay meetinghouse in Auckland.
