‘Honour and Remember’ on Relief Society 175th Anniversary

175 years ago today, Joseph Smith, the first president of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, organized the Relief Society.

It is one of the oldest and largest women’s organizations in the world, with members in each of the 30,000 or so Mormon congregations globally.

The Relief Society general presidency—Sister Linda K. Burton, Sister Carole M. Stephens, and Sister Linda S. Reeves—recently issued a joint statement suggesting that “rather than [the anniversary] being an ‘event,’ we hope that each individual sister will reflect upon and prayerfully seek ways to honour and remember this special milestone.”
