‘Books for Fiji’ Project Gathers Momentum

An estimated 50,000 books have been donated by New Zealanders across the lower half of the North Island over the last few weeks, as New Zealanders have responded to the call to send educational books to Fiji children in rural villages.

Member of Parliament for Rongotai and Deputy Leader of the Labour Party, Annette King, recently said of the effort: "When you become a grandmother and you have time to spend reading to your grandchildren, you realize how important books are to the young developing mind."

"Giving children in Fiji the chance to enjoy and learn from books is a wonderful contribution to make."
