Young Fiji Man Raises Awareness on Mental Health

Latter-day Saint university student Ray Howard Robanakadavu believes the mental health of children in Fiji has been neglected for many years so he is doing something about it, according to a report in the Fiji Times.

The newspaper states that he is a member of 'Youth Champs for Mental Health,' a group of "young people who are passionately committed towards the raising of awareness on mental health issues in Fiji."

The article continues: "The Cakaudrove lad is taking a break from his studies at the University of the South Pacific to campaign for a cause, he says, is close to his heart. Mr Howard aims to eradicate the stigma associated with mental health problems and the act of seeking assistance for it."

"I also want to encourage the use of creative arts as a tool in raising awareness on suicide prevention and mental health among young people to the effect that they take an active interest in the importance of good mental health."
