Valerie Adams Honoured with 'Dame Companion of the New Zealand Order of Merit'

Olympic shotput champion and member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints Valerie Adams has been appointed one of New Zealand's highest honours, the "Dame Companion of the New Zealand Order of Merit" on the New Years Day honour list.

 

     

Valerie last appeared on the Mormon Newsroom with Elder S Gifford Nielsen of the Pacific Area Presidency, encouraging people to follow the Saviour Jesus Christ and "Light the World" through giving to others. Well this time Valerie has been on the receiving end.

Upon hearing the news, Elder Nielsen remarked, "This prestigious award  honouring Valerie is so well deserved. She is not only an amazing athlete but also a powerful example of goodness and kindness. She knows her mission in life is to use her talent to influence many in a very positive way and this recognition exemplifies that quest."
