University, Charity and Church Send Furniture to Samoan School

The University of Waikato in Tauranga, Pacific Assist and The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints have teamed up to send furniture to a Samoan school.

Many students in Samoan schools have inadequate chairs and desks, or perhaps no desk or chair at all. It is not uncommon to find some classrooms in which all the students are sitting on the floor. This makes learning tougher for children.

In response to the need, the University of Waikato and Pacific Assist recently collaborated on a project in which a shipping container was filled with furniture bound for a Samoan school.

Missionaries from The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints helped university staff load the donated furniture into a container, and the Church will cover shipping costs.
