Sending Love to Tonga

Children are drawing pictures and writing messages of love and support to the people of Tonga

Children from congregations in the Mt Roskill Stake of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Auckland created drawings, letters and cards expressing their love and good wishes for Tonga over the last few days.

The drawings, as well as other messages, will be included in a shipment of humanitarian aid from the Church being flown to Tonga on Tuesday 25 January.

Many other messages of support have been coming in every hour to the Church’s Pacific Facebook Inspiration Group page. People old and young from all over the world have been posting their artwork, letters and photos there, all with messages of support and love to the people of the beautiful Kingdom of Tonga.

“We can’t express all of the feelings in the hearts of the members here in our stake about the wonderful people of Tonga,” said Lian Whitefield from the Mt. Roskill Stake, who helped the children in her Primary class prepare their messages.

“We know that the faith of these children and the spirit of the people of Tonga will prevail and we pray that the blessings of our Father in Heaven will be poured out upon them.”

Note: A stake is a group of congregations of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
