Levin Volunteers Paint Local Playground, Brighten Community

Volunteers in Levin, New Zealand recently transformed a well-used and weather-worn playground into a fresh and bright place for people to enjoy the outdoors.

The day of service, on Saturday 8 December, brought together members and missionaries of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints along with others from the community.

The volunteers were responding to the invitation to "Light Your Community," part of the Light The World Christmas initiative which encourages people to serve as Jesus Christ served.

The service project was arranged by local Latter-day Saint David Snowdon, with Ben Wood of the Horowhenua Council bringing the paint.

Participants prepared and painted wooden benches and playground equipment with bright colours.

The faces of volunteers were as bright and fresh as the benches and equipment they painted.
