Speaking of what he has taken away from this month's general conference for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, New Zealander Tiopira Rauna says the conference speakers strengthened his faith in following Jesus Christ.
"All the speakers covered all the areas that each of us need for our own personal development in serving our neighbours, employers, and our families," he said.
Lavenia Fonua Taufalele added, "This was a very inspiring conference because the messages were what I needed to focus on."
Mrs Taufalele is a principal of a middle school in Nuku'alofa, Tonga.
She continues: "The messages gave me direction as to how to strengthen my relationship with my husband and each of my family members."
"Also, it helped me to take a closer look at my own personal commitment to the Lord and evaluate areas that need recommitment. I walked away feeling replenished spiritually," she said.
Carol Rees, an American missionary for the Church serving alongside her husband Don in Auckland, New Zealand, says she appreciated questions posed by Latter-day Saint apostle, Elder Robert D. Hales.
"Elder Hales asked: 'How are we doing in following our Saviour Jesus Christ? Are we trying to serve others, especially those who are alone and suffering?”
Millions of members and friends of the Church participated in the general conference around the world via the Internet, radio, television and satellite broadcast. The semi-annual conference takes place each April and October.
Approximately 100,000 people usually attend the five sessions of general conference in person, at the faith’s Conference Center in Salt Lake City, United States.
