New Zealand Education Week Going Virtual

Lockdown in Auckland forces switch to on-line delivery

The Auckland portion of 2021 New Zealand Education Week is moving on-line. Because of the Level 3 conditions in the Auckland region that began on Sunday night, organizers of the event are shifting from in-person classes to on-line delivery via video conferencing technology on 19 and 20 February.

“In New Zealand, we have had plenty of experience over the last year of adapting to changing conditions,” said event organizers Doug and Deonne Layton for the New Zealand Welfare and Self Reliance team of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

“We have been able to work with most of our presenters to shift to doing on-line presentations. Fortunately, these can also be interactive so attendees can take part just as if they were present in person.”

“Because everything is online, all of the classes will be available free of charge to members and friends of other faiths in Australia and the Pacific Islands as well as in New Zealand.”

A complete list of classes and schedules is being posted at the event website  www.nzeducationweek.co.nz. The class sessions and Zoom details can be accessed from the same site.  In addition, a number of pre-recorded Education Week presentations are now available on the website.

The first phase of NZ Education Week was held last weekend 12-14 February in Hamilton. Additional videos of the presentations from both weeks will be available online in the coming weeks.
