New Community Centre for Samoan Village

The Women’s Committee in the Samoan village of Saoluafata now has a new community centre. The centre, partially funded by LDS Charities, the humanitarian arm of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, will be used for community meetings, a place to provide medical care to the people of the village and to teach and train the youth, as well as many other community activities.

The original community centre was previously demolished. It was located close to the beach, but was in disrepair and unsafe. The new centre is located on village land adjacent to the primary school, the pre-school, and their sports field.

Attending the handover ceremony were village residents, Elder Meliula M. Fata, Area Seventy of the Church, members of the Pacific Area Welfare Team and other local church leaders.
