Fiji Sun: Elder Scott 'Has a Special Place in the Hearts of Local Members'

The Fiji Sun and New Zealand Herald newspapers reported this week on the passing of Elder Richard G. Scott, a member of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

The Fiji Sun reported yesterday, "Fijian members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints are mourning the death of one of their world leaders.

"Elder Richard G. Scott of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles of the Church has died at his home in Salt Lake City, US. He was 86.

"He has a special place in the hearts of the local members."

The New Zealand Herald reported earlier this week, "Mormon leader Richard G. Scott died Tuesday at the age of 86 leaving the religion with three openings on its top governing body for the first time in more than a century.

"Scott died from natural causes at his home in Salt Lake City surrounded by his family, The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints said in a statement. Scott had been a member of a church governing body called the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles since 1988."
