Members and friends of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in the Taravao area of Tahiti spread love through action by serving their community on Saturday 12 February. This was part of a South Pacific-wide month-long initiative by the Church to encourage community service.
In coordination with city officials, volunteers gathered in their local areas to serve their community. They also invited their friends who joined in to make their area a better place to live.

More than 120 people from different congregations took part.
In Hitia'a, volunteers participated in the cleaning of the wharf, while in Tautira they cleaned the city cemetery. Taravao members and friends supported the beautification project of the Ohi Tei Tei School.
In Toahotu, volunteers painted the fence of the Town Hall and the Nuutere Marae was rehabilitated and cleaned. In addition, a group of helpers decided to clean the courtyards of some of their neighbours in Taravao since the cemetery initially planned had already been cleaned.
Rupe Parker is the President of the Taravao Stake (group of congregations) of The Church of Jesus Christ. He said, “Serving in the community is our way of sharing Heavenly Father's love for all His children. We want each of our neighbours to know how much Jesus Christ loves them, and cares for each one of us.”
