Love is Greatest Gift for Families, Former Kiribati President Says

“I believe the greatest gift that parents can give to their children is family love and not family wealth like land, house, money or luxury items,” a former president of Kiribati said recently.

Mr Teburoro Tito, who served as the Pacific nation’s leader from 1994 to 2003, spoke to a group of Latter-day Saints and guests at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints’ Tarawa West Stake Centre recently.

Elder O. Vincent Haleck, a member of the Pacific Area Presidency of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, along with his wife Sister Peggy Haleck, attended and spoke at the special event.  Area Seventy, Elder Taniela Wakolo, also attended the meeting.

Elder Haleck recognized Mr Tito for his contributions to the nation and his service to the citizens and families of Kiribati.

Mr Tito told those in attendance how humbled and thankful he was for the Church’s recognition of his years of public service and leadership.

Elder Taniela Wakola welcomed Mr Tito’s family and friends who also attended the event.

Faith leaders attending the ceremony included Pastor Eria Maerere, representing the Assembly of God; and Pastor Burangke Tekita, from the Church of God.
