Leadership Changes Announced at Church's General Conference

The First Presidency of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints announced five new general authorities, a new Young Men general presidency, a new counselor in the Primary general presidency and 53 Area Seventies at the Saturday afternoon session of the Church’s 185th Annual General Conference earlier this month.

Also announced today were the callings of 53 new Area Seventies. Area Seventies give part-time voluntary Church service within their assigned geographic areas and support area presidencies in international areas.

Among the leadership changes announced were the releases of Elder Peter F. Meurs (Perth) and Elder T. Marama Tarati (Tahiti) as Area Seventies; and the callings of Elder Johnny L. Leota (Sydney) and Elder Benjamin T. Sinjoux (Tahiti) as Area Seventies.
