For over 30 years, Clean Up Australia Day has encouraged Australian citizens to clean up, fix up and conserve their communities to benefit the environment. It focuses on preventing future waste and pollution as well as removing existing rubbish.

Traditionally held on the first Sunday of March, Latter-day Saints of the Caulfield Ward (congregation) worked in the gardens at Caulfield Park on Saturday, while their Jewish partners worked on Sunday ─ each faith community observing their day of worship.

Over 15 bags of rubbish as well as various discarded household items were collected.

David Southwick, Member of Parliament for Caulfield, also participated in the clean-up. He thanked volunteers for “making a difference in the community.”

Southwick added, “It was a pleasure to meet members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Caulfield. I am delighted to get to know and participate in activities with the many organisations and groups in my community.”
