From the South Pacific to Salt Lake City

General Conference Attracts People from Around the World

Latter-day Saints from around the world, including the South Pacific, gathered in Salt Lake City, Utah, USA, 4-5 April to attend the 185th Annual General Conference of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

Members and guests of the Church worldwide gather every six months at the Conference Centre, Salt Lake City, or via television, radio, satellite and Internet broadcasts, to receive guidance and encouragement from Church leaders about gospel living based on the teachings of Jesus Christ.

This year, Elder Kevin W. Pearson, president of the Church's Pacific Area, spoke during the Sunday afternoon session. He encouraged all to “endure to the end, come unto Christ, and be perfected in Him."

An estimated 100,000 people attended the conference, with the global audience estimated to be in the millions.

There are over a half million Latter-day Saints in the South Pacific.
