Fijian Missionary Thanks Dannevirke Community for Children’s Books

"Children are very adventurous and will love these donated storybooks" according to Sister Tailasa, a Fijian missionary for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, currently serving in Dannevirke.

Sister Tailasa and her missionary companion Sister Dee, along with Latter-day Saint Bishop Ross Larsen of Dannevirke Ward, helped sort and load 14 boxes of donated books to be transported to Palmerston North, where they will be repacked and delivered to Wellington to be loaded into a container for shipment to schools in rural villages in Fiji.

The "Books for Fiji" project was organised by The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and is being supported by hundreds of 'Mormon Helping Hands' and other community volunteers throughout the lower half of the North Island.

The project is very close to home for Sister Tailasa as the books are going to enrich the lives and educational experiences of her young fellow Fijians.

Bishop Larsen (who was born in Fiji) says that Dannevirke schools, businesses and individuals have through their contributions, "done a wonderful thing which will directly benefit the children of Fiji, their schools and their families."

"We can't thank you enough, and wish to express our appreciation for supporting this project," he said.
