FamilySearch Honours New Zealand Genealogists

Mike Higgins, Pacific Area manager of FamilySearch, honoured two volunteer librarians this week at the National Library of New Zealand.

Marlene Sayers and Beverly Keall were recognized for their service at the National Library’s family history centre.

The centre exists due to the collaboration of three organizations: the National Library of New Zealand, which provides floor space for the centre; the New Zealand Society of Genealogists, whose members run the centre; and FamilySearch, which ships microfilm to the facility. FamilySearch is one of the largest genealogical organizations in the world and is sponsored by The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

“Marlene and Beverly have provided a wonderful service to so many at the National Library of New Zealand,” Mike Higgins said. “The people who come into use the centre rely on wise and helpful librarians, like Marlene and Beverly, who make their visit enjoyable and productive.”
