New Church Leaders Announced for Dunedin, New Zealand

Members of the Dunedin New Zealand Stake of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints welcomed Jason Mather as their new stake president, and Filimoemaka Kautai and Danny Leonard as stake presidency counsellors, on Sunday, 1 August 2021.

Elder K. Brett Nattress, First Counsellor in the Pacific Area Presidency, announced the new leaders during a stake conference on the weekend. Elder Nattress was accompanied by Pacific Area Seventy, Elder Allistair Odgers.

Mather and his counsellors form the Dunedin Stake Presidency and are lay leaders. As volunteers, they will each contribute several hours each week supporting members and congregations in their efforts to follow Jesus Christ.

Mather is employed by Mount Cargill Trust, a not-for-profit organisation that provides residential care and support to children, young people, and adults with intellectual, learning disabilities and/or an autistic spectrum diagnosis.

Kautai and Leonard also have full-time jobs in addition to their lay leadership roles.

Former stake president Maurice Turketo was released because his family is relocating to Christchurch.

The Dunedin stake includes Queenstown and Timaru and the entire geographical area southward.
