Councils Approve Church's Temple View Resource Consent Application

New Stake Centre, Legacy Park, Road Upgrade Among Developments

Hamilton City Council and Waipa District Council approved The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints’ application for resource consent on Friday [10 January] paving the way for various development projects in the Hamilton suburb of Temple View to begin.

The decision grants approval for the Church to move forward in its plans to remove certain existing buildings, redevelop part of the former Church College campus and upgrade a section of Tuhikaramea Road, Temple View.

In particular, the councils have approved the removal of certain buildings and the construction of a new stake centre which will serve as a meetinghouse and headquarters for local congregations, including an associated car park.

The construction of a new internal access road and upgrading works of Tuhikaramea Road including removal and replacement of existing street trees are also approved.

Further, the development of a “Legacy Park” for passive recreational uses, including earthworks and extensive landscaping was also approved.
