The local Lattter-day Saint leaders presented Pastor Tema with a copy of "The Family: A Proclamation to the World", which sets forth the Church’s teachings on marriage and family.

“Happiness in family life is most likely to be achieved when founded upon the teachings of the Lord Jesus Christ” the Proclamation states.

It continues: “Successful marriages and families are established and maintained on principles of faith, prayer, repentance, forgiveness, respect, love, compassion, work, and wholesome recreational activities.”

After the meeting President Duquette said, “We expressed our desire to work together with the Council in the future noting the many Christian values we have in common including our views on families.”

This suggestion was well received by Pastor Tema who agreed that more dialogue was in order, and said that good conversation helps to improve understanding between people of faith.
