Celebrating International Women's Day in New Zealand

Recognising women who are "strengthening families, neighbourhoods, communities and nations in noble and happy ways"

Members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints around the world joined with others to celebrate International Women's Day 2019 this week.

Tania Torea, director of public affairs for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Wellington, attended an event on Saturday 9 March hosted by High Commissioner of Malaysia, H.E. Nur Izzah Wong Mee Choo.

Among the guests were South Africa High Commissioner H.E. Vuyiswa Tulelo as well as other diplomats, New Zealand Government officials, faith and community leaders.

"What a blessing it was to celebrate with women who are strengthening families, neighbourhoods, communities and nations in noble and happy ways," Mrs Torea said.

Women over the age of 18 in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints belong to the Relief Society, one of the oldest and largest women's organisatons in the world, with groups in every congregation of the Church worldwide.

The organisation's motto is “Charity never faileth," which is put into action by Christ-like service to others.
