American Samoan News Media Learn about Temples

In a pre-groundbreaking press conference in Pago Pago, American Samoa, Elders K. Brett Nattress and Faapito Auapaau explained the purpose of temples to journalists near the site of a temple that will soon be built.

Tomorrow, Saturday 30 October, Elder Nattress and other invited guests will formally break ground ahead of the temple’s construction.

Elder Nattress said he was delighted to meet the media professionals and was grateful that they wanted to report on the special event taking place tomorrow.

Temples of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints differ from meetinghouses or chapels where members meet for Sunday worship services. Each temple is considered a “house of the Lord” where Jesus Christ’s teachings are reaffirmed through baptism and other ordinances that unite families for eternity. In the temple, Church members learn more about the purpose of life and make covenants to follow Jesus Christ and serve their fellow man.
