American Samoan Latter-day Saints #LightTheWorld

Members and friends of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in American Samoa are participating in this month's #LightTheWorld Christmas initiative.

#LightTheWorld is a worldwide Christmas initiative that encourages individuals and families to do good deeds as a way to remember and give thanks for the birth, life, ministry and example of Jesus Christ.

Christmas lights shone brightly in Mapusaga, American Samoa on 1 December at the territory's launch of #LightTheWorld.

Dances from around the world were featured as well as several choral items.

Local Latter-day Saint congregations brought Christmas trees to add to the festivity.

According to one participant, "We felt the radiated spirit of Christmas, we felt giving and ministering to others."

Latter-day Saint leader, President Faapito Auapaau, asked: "Where do we get the happiness of Christmas?"

His response: "We  get the happiness of Christmas by all the teachings of our Heavenly Father and His Son Jesus Christ in our families and at church, and in our communities, and around the world."

He encouraged all to love and minister to each other according to our needs.
