    Prophet’s Visit to Fiji in 2019 Helped Prepare Church Members for 2020 Pandemic

    Fiji newspaper recounts how gospel teachings and administrative changes introduced by President Russell M. Nelson over the last few years have helped Church members prepare for the effects of COVID-19

    An op-ed article in the Fiji Sun newspaper on 20 November recounts the visit by Russell M. Nelson ─ president of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints ─ to Fiji in May 2019.

    It also includes comments from Fijians who attended the meeting with President Nelson in a Nausori rugby stadium, north of Suva.  

    They speak of changes introduced by President Nelson over the last few years that shifted worship from a church-centred activity to a home-centred one. This proved to be prophetic with the arrival of the pandemic in early 2020 when Church members could not gather in meetinghouses for worship services.  

    On Saturday, 21 November, Fijian Latter-day Saints will join millions of members and friends of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints around the world to listen to President Nelson’s address on the crisis facing the globe. 

    The message of hope and healing will be broadcast in Fiji on FBC TV from 6.00pm – 7.00pm on that day, and available online at ChurchofJesusChrist.org.
