School, Music and Sailing Keep Cook Islands Teenager Busy

13-year-old Elizabeth Kenyon from Rarotonga has a lot going on. On top of her school work each week, she's the pianist for her church congregation on Sundays. She also finds time to sail.

Last month she competed in the Secondary School Sailing National Championship at Algies Bay, New Zealand.

As is tradition, the sailing competition invites a Cook Island Team member to participate in the national championship each year.

This year Elizabeth was chosen to represent the Cook Islands.

Along with seven other squad members, Elizabeth went head-to-head against some of the best high school sailing teams in New Zealand.

Her excellent performance at the competition was a proud moment for Rarotonga. She aspires to compete in the Olympics one day.

Elizabeth is a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

She plays the piano each Sunday during worship service at the Takitumu Branch in Rarotonga.
