Children Across the South Pacific Enjoy First Ever Worldwide ‘Friend to Friend’ Broadcast

Young members and friends of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Australia, New Zealand and other parts of the South Pacific watched the Church’s first ever “Friend to Friend” broadcast on Sunday 21 February.

The broadcast was recorded in Salt Lake City, United States on Saturday 20 February, and was hosted by two children, Payson and Brianna.

During the 44 minutes-long video, the hosts interacted with guests who shared activities, stories and songs. The aim of the broadcast was to encourage children to follow Jesus Christ and help those around them.

Messages were shared by President Russell M. Nelson, president of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints; Elder Ulisses Soares of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles; and Sister Joy D. Jones, general president of the Primary Organisation of the Church.

One mother of young children, Angela, said on social media: “All our family enjoyed this broadcast. What a great way to start the Sabbath.”

A woman who is a leader in her congregation’s Primary organisation, Marie, posted: “Just finished watching it... loved all of it... so many awesome ideas to use in our Primary.”

Ofa Ki-mala'e wrote: “This was such a wonderful experience with our Primary kids at 7am.”

Another mother, Rachel, said, “This was amazing. Such a beautiful experience in our home this morning.”

According to Noelline Parker, the Church’s Communication Director in French Polynesia, “In Bora Bora, two girls did not understand the words but they enjoyed watching the program and feeling the language of the Spirit.”
